With a throw of 193 feet 4 inches, University of Colorado thrower Zach Hazen bettered his previous pr (178-5) by nearly 15 feet. The third longest throw in school history, it is also the best mark in the Big 12 in the event this season and is an NCAA regional qualifier for the Germantown, Tenn. native.

With the Buffs' field events taking center stage here Saturday, Hazen was one of four Buffs to turn in regional qualifying efforts, as he was joined by Amberly Casey (long jump), Andy Miller who won the high jump at 6-10.75 and James Begley (discus). Miller won the men's high jump in a qualifying jump of 6-10.75 a season best for senior. Casey finished second in the women's long jump with a season best 19-6.25 and Begley sixth with a 168-2, nine inches shy of his pr.

Sprinter George Pincock got the endurance award, as the sophomore finished second in the 200-m (21.38) and the 400-m in a pr 47.33, ran the anchor leg of the winning 400-m relay in a season best 41.26 and ran the opening leg of the 4x400-m relay that finished third.

In addition to Pincock, other Buffs turning in personal records Saturday included Jackie Sturm in the 400-m (59.60), Amberly Casey in the triple jump (38-8.25), Derek Winton in his first 800-m (1:54.88), Micah Moseley (1:58.54) in the 800-m, James Strang in his first career steeplechase (9:42.54), just days after practicing it for the first time and Andy Passen, who won the shot put in a pr 56-6.75 to win the event as an unattached athlete.

Other notable performances today included Megan Baker's win in the pole vault, her first of the outdoor season, Blake Vanier's win in the pole vault in a season best 14-5.25, throws coach Casey Malone win in the men's discus with a throw of 202-4, Hannah Warfield-Ruffato's runner-up finish in the javelin (125-9), Anna Magle's season high 5-7 high jump effort to finish third, school record holder Liza Negriff's runner-up and season best 40-2 in the triple jump, Sam Napp's season best mark of 10.88 in the 100-m dash

The Buffs return home next Saturday, April 9 when a full squad competes in the Colorado Invitational at Potts Field. The field events begin at 10 a.m., followed by the running events at 1:30 p.m.
