Charles Leads Buffs At Air Force

AIR FORCE ACADEMY , Colo. ? Hugh Charles led the University of Colorado at the Air Force Invitational on Saturday by recording a first-place finish in the long jump and a second-place finish in the 60-meter dash. The Buffs received four men's first-place finishes on the day.
Charles continued his dominance in the men's long jump with a mark of 25-03.25. In the 60, he recorded a time of 6.77. The mark tied the 10th best time in school history and Charles became the fifth fastest Buff in the event. Charles was the only Buff to score in two events and recorded 18 points for CU.
In other men's sprinting events, Jeremy Dodson took first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.10.
The men's distance events also did well for the Buffs. In the men's 5000-meter run, Richard Medina placed first for by crossing the finish in 15:23.50.
The women's 4x440-meter relay team, made up of Veronica Maul, Toi Windham, Joi Windham and Dyamond Seay, took second place with a time of 3:55.59.
Sara Vaughn placed fourth in the 800-meter event with a time of 2:21.43.
In the men's heptathlon, Adam Salzmann placed eighth overall. He recorded 4,682 points. Salzmann's best finish was in the 1,000-meter run where he finished second overall by clocking a time of 2:52.35.
CU's men placed third out of 11 teams and the women were 11th of 12.
The Buffs will return to the Air Force Academy for the Don Barrett Open on Feb. 9.
