Dodson and Sawyer Lead CU At Don Barrett Open

AIR FORCE ACADEMY , Colo. ?Jeremy Dodson and Allison Sawyer led the University of Colorado at the Don Barrett Air Force Open on Saturday by recording first-place finishes in the 200-meter run and 3000-meter run, respectively. The Buffs also received first place finishes in both the men's and women's 4x440-yard relays.
Dodson beat out teammates Ryan Campbell and Hugh Charles to win the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.27; Campbell (21.48) took second and Charles (22.27) finished sixth in the event. Dodson also finished third in the 60-meter dash. He recorded a time of 6.91 in the prelims to qualify for the finals. In the finals, he ran an improved time of 6.78.
The men's 4x440-yard relay team of Jared Stewart, Adrian Gomez, Shane Cronin and Nate Terry won the race with a time of 3:20.46. The women's relay also won the event with a time of 3:55.20; the team consisted of Veronica Maul, Toi Windham, Joi Windham and Dyamond Seay.
The men's jumpers earned a pair of seventh place finishes as Adam Salzmann (21-00.75) placed in the long jump and Parker Fales (44-10.75) placed in the triple jump. Men's thrower Chase Dukes placed seventh in the weight throw (54-04.00) and twelfth in the shot put (47-02.25) to lead the CU throwers.
The men's middle distance runners recorded a pair of eighth-place finishes on the day as Nate Terry (49.42) and Adrian Gomez (1:58.06) placed in the 400-meter and 800-meter races, respectively.
Sawyer (10:47.28) edged out Morgan Ekemo (10:48.00) and teammate Megan Burrell (10:48.77) for the win in the 3,000-meter relay. CU also had a strong outing in the women's 800-meter run as Dani Rodriguez (2:22.34), Joi Windham (2:22.75) and Emily Hanenburg (2:22.98) finished second, third and fourth, respectively.
In women's sprinting events, Cassie Hirshfield took sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.71. Veronica Maul led the Buffs in the 400, taking fourth with a mark of 58.29.
