Women Second At Air Force Classic

Colorado Springs, Colo. - In the first full team action of the winter indoor season, the University of Colorado track & field team headed south to the Air Force Classic, a quadrangular featuring CU, Colorado State, Air Force and TCU. The CU women took second in Saturday's action, with the men finishing third.

Senior Molly Austin was the lone women's track event champion, taking first in the women's 3,000 meter run in 10:10.52. Sara Gorton was second in the women's 800 in 2:14.23, while Natalie Florence was also second on the mile run in 5:04.56.

In field events, Anna Magle took the women's high jump crown with her leap of 5-5. Freshman jumper Maxine Marlow took second in both the long jump (17-11.5) and the triple jump (37-9.25).

In men's action, the distance runners were the title winners in track action, with freshman Brett Schoolmeester winning the men's mile in 4:17.93. Senior Ed Torres won the 3,000 meter run in 8:34.56. The men also won the distance medley relay in 10:28.71. Sophomore Andrew Miller won the men's high jump with his clearance of 6-10.75 in men's field action.

Colorado will head to Lincoln next weekend for the Nebraska Invitational on February 15.
