MEN FOURTH, WOMEN SEVENTH AT AIR FORCE
January 24, 2004 | Track and Field
Wins by junior Liza Negriff in the women's triple jump, senior Natalie Florence (3,000-m) and freshman Anthony Chiulli, junior Gus Lundin, sophomore Chris Curtis and junior Jared Scott (men's distance medley relay), sparked 31 top-10 finishes, but the University of Colorado men's and women's track teams now find themselves two years removed from a team title here as the Buffs finished fourth and seventh, respectively, at the Air Force Indoor Invitational at the conclusion of the two-day meet Saturday.
In her second straight win, Negriff was the first Buff to pull off a meet title, as her triple jump leap of 39-5 Friday night was a career best and second-best jump in CU school history, just behind Udie Ekiko's leap of 40-00.50 in 1994, also at the Academy. The men's distance medley relay team of Chiulli, Lundin, Curtis and Scott raced to a time of 10:23.20, a comfortable 4.11 seconds ahead of runner up
On Saturday,
The Buffs have two weeks of practice before they return to USAFA, when they compete Feb. 7 in the Falcon Invitational.
